Natalie had her 15 month well check with Dr. Manzo this morning and per usual she cried almost the entire time. Other than the crying, everything was good! She's 32.25 inches tall and that puts her in the 90%! She weighs 24.6 pounds which is in the 76%! So she's hitting all her milestones and growing really well, and that made me happy. Especially since she isn't really a fan of milk or veggies. Dr. Mazo put my fears at ease about that, too. He said as long as she's getting dairy (and she LOVES oatmeal made with milk, cheese and yogurt) somewhere in her diet, that it's not necessary that she drink milk. As far as the veggies go, he told me not to worry about that, too. He told me that it's incredibly rare that an American would have any sort of nutrient deficiency, so much of what we eat is mega fortified, especially food children like to eat. Basically he recommended giving her Flinstone's if I'm still worried. I'll be going to the drug store today.
In other Natalie news, Mom taught her how to march. It's really cute. She picks her knees up really high and says "marr marr". The other day we were at the grocery store and Mom was watching Natalie. After I was finished shopping I found them hand in hand marching down the juice aisle. Few things in life are that darn precious. Anyway, she's a brainiac and I can't get over how quickly she learns and can apply things. Sigh.

Truth #30 - LAST ONE!
I'm really really really glad this is over.
I'm sure you are too!
Pretty lame last "truth", sorry.
I'm sure you are too!
Pretty lame last "truth", sorry.
Amazed
I know I just did a Natalie update but there's already so much more to tell everyone. I'll try to make it brief.
In addition to the previous list, Natalie now says: Natalie (Na-yee), "tweet tweet", "Night Night", "Knee", "Toe", "Potty", "Pretty" and "Earring".
She did something yesterday that absolutely blew me away. She stopped playing and assumed "the position" (the position is her going to the bathroom stance), looked at me and said "potty". Holy cow. I know she's nowhere near ready to potty train, but it was really exciting to me that she's already able to make that connection.
She has started doing forward rolls all on her own. I swear I never taught her or showed her how, she just bent over one day and flipped! She's also starting to walk up the stairs (holding my hand, of course) rather than crawling up.
Another neat thing she does is correctly identifying me, Chase and herself in pictures. She's so smart.
She can identify her knee and her toes now, too. The ways in which Natalie wows me are never ending. I can't imagine anything in this world being more rewarding than being her Mother. Thank you, God.
Here's what "What to Expect the Toddler Years" says she should be doing by the time she's 16 months:
Should be able to:
Imitate parents and scribble (check)
Will probably be able to:
Use three words and dump and object (check and check)
May possibly be able to:
Use 6 words and run (um, check)
May even be able to:
Kick a ball and brush teeth with help (check)
Anyone have the phone number for MENSA?

Truth #29
I think I'm a whole lot tougher than I may seem.
Facebook is really starting to annoy me. No, some of the people on facebook annoy me. To be more specific, the whiny, woe is me, "half my heart's in Afghanistan" military wives annoy me. Seems a friend purge might be in order.
Not only do these women blatantly violate OPSEC (Operations Security) by giving details concerning their husband's current/future deployment, but they complain about the most miniscule missions. My favorite are the women who complain because their husbands have been coming home for, oh let's say about the last two days, after 6 PM. Give. Me. A. Break.
I have a few military wives as friends who subtly post something about their husband's impending deployment/mission, and how they're dreading it, and I think that's OK. I mean, you wouldn't be human if you didn't give a hoot that the man you love, the father of your children and your best friend is going somewhere where the people would love nothing more than to see his head on a stick. And basically, I think these women are just letting their close friends and family who are already in the know, know how they're feeling. They're not announcing to the entire world that their "snookums" is going to Camp _____ in the country of ______ until _____ and I'm going to be ALL ALONE. Why on Earth would you want to advertise that you're alone? You might as well put an ad in the paper that reads: "Husband gone for 12 months. Feel free to break in, rape me and steal my children. No advance notice required." Despite what you may think, facebook is not as secure as they want you to believe it is.
Seriousy? Give me a break.
But what really gets me are the military wives that complain and whine and mope about their hubbies being gone in the field for a few days or coming home late for a week. Seriously? I haven't seen Chase after 7 in the morning and before 10 at night in... I don't know how long. I'm not saying it doesn't suck, all I'm saying is: let's toughen up some, gals. We are military wives... we've done it before, we're doing it now... and I promise you, we're going to be doing it again. And again and again.

Truth #28
I'd rather be cold than hot.
Here's my theory: If you're cold, you can put a sweater on or cover up with a blanket. If you're hot, you can't get naked (well, I guess you can... but no one really wants that). So if you're one of those cold-ish people and you visit my house, bring a sweater.

Croup = Poop

No, not really. But it does make Natalie FEEL like poop.
Last week I noticed that Natalie was sneezing a lot more than normal, which is usually an indicator that she's coming down with a cold. She got a bit of a runny nose but the cold never really came.... croup did. Yesterday morning she woke up barking like a seal. It was awful, it sounded like she couldn't breathe and it sounded PAINFUL. I got her to the doctor as quickly as I could and my suspicions were confirmed. Croup she had. So off we went to the pharmacy armed with a steroid prescription. Which was a nightmare in itself. Apparently, the prescription was written for a drug that is brand new to the market (they did tell me at the office that the drug rep had just come by the day before) and no one stocks it yet. The pharmacist at Rite Aid called every pharmacy in Pinehurst/Southern Pines/Aberdeen and not one place had it. I guess the old version of the prescription was a lower dosage than the new version. So the poor pharmacist, who was there all by himself, worked diligently for 45 minutes to mix up/dilute/cut down/convert the old drug into exactly what was written for Natalie. It was like watching a piece of history. I've never seen a pharmacist actually mix up medicine... usually you hand over the prescription and they turn around, check the shelves and grab the right one.
After two doses of steroids, Natalie has stopped coughing and is feeling much better.
Truth #27
I don't miss much about my pre-mommy days, but I do miss sleeping in.
My little alarm clock (Natalie) goes off every morning at 7 AM sharp. Very rarely does she sleep any later, and if she does it's usually only another 15 minutes. Every so often Chase will grant me what we call a "sleep in day". Those are glorious days. He gets Natalie out of bed, dresses and feeds her, plays with her and takes care of everything. I usually roll out of bed some time around 9:30. My pre-mommy self would have thought that was early, but I am so thankful for the extra time now!
