I would rather have a few true friends than several acquaintances. I like to play around on facebook (like most everyone), and I've started to pay attention to how many "friends" people have. When did social networking become a popularity contest? Surely the people who have 1000+ friends can't possibly keep in touch with all of them! I'm starting to wonder if some of the random facebook friend requests I'm getting is just an attempt to up "friend" numbers, not a genuine means to staying in touch with me.
